Information for Contributors  

Editorial Policy:

The Journal of Asia TEFL publishes articles on research concerned with the teaching and learning of English, especially in Asian contexts, including TEFL theory and methodology, proficiency goals and assessment, language education policy, curriculum and materials development, international or intercultural communication, teacher education, and multimedia-assisted language teaching. The Journal of Asia TEFL is an international, fully refereed journal. It welcomes submissions from around the world as well as from Asia.

Submission Categories:

Articles: Articles submitted should normally be between 5000 and 8000 words (including references, notes, and tables) in length. All submissions should be sent by e-mail in electronic form (preferably MS Word .doc) as attachments. Articles should be preceded by an abstract of not more than 200 words. Author's names and addresses should appear only on a cover sheet, not on the title page. Submit manuscripts by email to the Managing Editor:

Comments or responses to published articles and position papers are welcomed. Contributions to this section should be between 1000 and 2000 words. Send one copy by email to the Managing Editor.


Book reviews or notices and dissertation notices (between 500 and 800 words) should be sent by email to the Reviews Editor:

Research Reports:

Research reports on TEFL in Asia are welcomed. Manuscripts that either present action research in EFL classrooms or focus on some aspects of a larger study are encouraged for this section. Contributions to this section should be between 1000 and 3000 words. Send one copy by email to the Research Reports Editor:

 General Submission Guidelines:

(a) All submissions should conform to the requirements of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (Fifth Edition).
(b) All submissions should be accompanied by a cover sheet including a full mailing address and a telephone or cell phone number and an email address and fax number.
(c) Authors of articles, Forum contributions, and research reports should include a very brief biographical statement (in sentence form, maximum 50 words) and any special acknowledgment they would like to include.
(d) Manuscripts should not have been published previously or be under consideration for publication elsewhere in any form.
(e) The Editor of The Journal of Asia TEFL reserves the right to make editorial changes in any manuscript accepted for publication to enhance clarity or style. The author will be consulted if the changes are substantial.
